The Alameda/Parrott Intersection Safety Project is done and looks beautiful! Gone are the temporary white bollards and signage, replaced by upgraded pavement markings, improved striping to accommodate bus movements, better-defined pedestrian areas, and durable surface treatments for the permanent closures of the free-right turn (slip) lanes.
Thanks to everyone who attended meetings and filled out surveys about how to make this intersection safer for students, walkers and cyclists. Thanks to Public Works for listening to resident feedback and enhancing the project from its original plan. This was the #1 priority in the Baywood neighborhood’s Traffic Action Plan and already has resulted in increased pedestrian and cyclist activity in the area.
Nice work LDN & City staff! Please continue to get rid of dangerous slip lanes elsewhere in SM. TY!
