Central Park Playground Groundbreaking

I was so excited to be part of the long-awaited Central Park Playground Groundbreaking last month, along with my fellow Council Members and a group of enthusiastic future Public Works candidates (check out the photo above)! This project, over a decade in the making and driven by community input, will create an Adventure Village, nestled within the majestic tree canopy of Central Park. There will be separate play areas for younger and older children. Children of all abilities will be able to take advantage of all areas of the playground. Construction is slated to take 18-24 months. Please be patient in the meantime and enjoy the many other great parks and open spaces in San Mateo!

Annual Central Park Eggstravaganza A Great Success!

Central Park was buzzing with excitement during the recent 48th Annual Eggstravaganza event. San Mateo residents of all ages enjoyed beautiful weather, great food, and tons of family-friendly fun. We estimate that approximately 3,000 attendees passed through Central Park!

Kudos to the Parks and Rec staff who put this event together and to our colleagues in Public Works, the Fire Department and the Police Department for ensuring the event went smoothly.

Wildfire Preparedness Tips and CA Department of Insurance Meeting on State of Insurance in California

The Baywood Neighborhood Association (BNA) spotlighted wildfire danger at its recent annual meeting. Check out many useful tips here. Neighbors throughout San Mateo can request a Fire Department representative attend a neighborhood meeting to share valuable wildfire prevention tips to keep your homes safe. Please go to the San Mateo Consolidated Fire website at www.smcfire.org, email them at fire@smcfire.org or call them at 650-522-7900.

BNA held a follow up zoom meeting with a representative from the CA Department of Insurance to get the latest on the state of home insurance in California and what neighbors can do to maximize the chances of renewing their home insurance policies. A recording of the meeting can be found here. If you need further assistance, please call 800.927.4357 or click the “Consumer Hotline Chat” button on their website, www.insurance.ca.gov.
