City Council Reorganization

Please join us for the annual City Council Reorganization on Monday, December 9, at 7pm at City Hall.  It will be a celebration of all that we accomplished in 2024 and a demonstration of how our local government works for San Mateo residents.

During the meeting, I will pass over my mayoral responsibilities to Rob Newsom, our current Deputy Mayor, and will return to my position as District 1 Council Member.  Rob is extremely active in our community and will be a great mayor.

Council Member Adam Loraine will become San Mateo’s next Deputy Mayor.  We will bid farewell to Council Members Amourence Lee and Rich Hedges and share our gratitude for their service.  We also will swear in our two newest Council Members, Nicole Fernandez of District 2 (North Central/North Shoreview) and Danielle Cwirko-Godycki of District 4 (Shoreview/Parkside).

The official ceremony will be followed by a reception, and everyone is invited to join us to celebrate.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my year as mayor.  I hope I have earned your trust in effectively advocating for District 1 while governing on behalf of all of San Mateo!
