Mayor’s Hero Award

I was honored to present my final Mayor’s Hero Award to Pamela McCarthy-Hudson.  Pam is a long-standing Samaritan House volunteer and Board Member.  She is involved in all aspects of Samaritan House, from helping its clients secure enough food for their families to planning for how Samaritan House grows to be able to “keep everyone in our community fed, clothed, healthy and housed.”  Pam is what the Mayor’s Hero Award celebrates…an individual who works tirelessly for our community and brings others along with her.

Cub Scout Troop 27 Comes To City Hall

I was so happy to welcome San Mateo Cub Scout Troop 27 to City Hall this month.  Martin McTaggart, San Mateo City Clerk, and I gave the scouts a tour of City Hall and walked them through a City Council meeting while they were seated in Council Chambers.  Their Cub Scout challenge was to learn what it means to be a good citizen. The scouts were full of great questions that kept us on our toes!

Thanks to Mike Feng and Sercio Campos, Troop 27’s Co-Den Leaders, for reaching out to organize their visit.  I look forward to seeing some of them get even more involved civically as they grow up.  Who knows…maybe we hosted a future mayor of San Mateo!
