As the highest priority identified in the Baywood Neighborhood’s Traffic Action Plan, the intersection of Parrott Drive and Alameda de las Pulgas is scheduled for permanent safety improvements. This project will transition current temporary measures into permanent and lasting improvements designed to enhance pedestrian safety.
The project features:
New pavement markings Improved centerline striping to better support bus movements
New "KEEP CLEAR" markings to improve the connection to Columbia Dr
Reinstallation of second southbound through lane
Pavement coatings to better define pedestrian spaces
Replacement of existing temporary delineators with lower-profile rubberized curbs and surface-mounted flexible posts to enhance aesthetics and provide a more durable treatment for the closed free-right turn areas
Construction will begin in early July and last for about 1 week. Construction hours will be from 7:30am to 4:30 pm and will include intermittent lane closures.
A postcard was mailed to nearby residents and emails sent to residents who had attended past project meetings or filled out the project’s online survey. Please watch for any updates at www.cityofsanmateo.org/3129/Baywood. You always can contact me at ldiaznash@cityofsanmateo.org.
