Small cell tower applications in San Mateo Park was the hot topic at January’s Community Coffee. Several neighbors joined me to protest the proposed small cell tower application by Crown Castle at 124 Warren Road. San Mateo Historic Resources Program Thank you to the many D1 residents who have shared their support of or opposition to the Historic Resources Program that was before City Council on January 21.  Council reached a compromise that I hope you’ll support. January 25th Lunar New Year Celebration Following up on last year’s successful event, there will be Lion Dancers performing and posing for photos with the community on B Street (@ 1st Ave) between noon-1pm.  Then the dancers will walk around Downtown and visit 10 businesses from 1-2pm. Draeger’s Update As many of you know, Draeger’s has decided to close its San Mateo branch by the end of February. This is a great disappointment to City Council, City staff and our entire community.  There were approved plans to redevelop the building that would call for Draeger’s to vacate in 1+ years and return when the construction of a new building was complete.
